The Bahamas Investment Authority
The Bahamas Investment Authority (BIA) is the agency of the Government that deals with all matters related to foreign investment in The Bahamas. Established in early 1993 and operating out of the office of the Prime Minister, the BIA administers the National Investment Policy of The Bahamas; conducts local and international investment promotion; addresses inquiries related to investing in The Bahamas; administers investment incentive legislation; receives and reviews investment proposals; and assists with the implementation of investment projects.
The BIA is the administrative arm of the National Economic Council and the Investments Board (IB). The IB is responsible for approval and registration of real property acquired by non-Bahamians.
Application forms for the registration and purchase of property under the Act can be obtained from the BIA. Completed application forms should be submitted to the BIA, to the attention of the Secretary to the Investments Board.
